My child is coming home, or is home

The discharge date is set, or it’s already behind you. Your child may have come back calmer and more open than you’ve seen them in years, and you’re watching for the first sign it’s slipping. Or it has already started to slip. What a child learns in a program often doesn’t survive a house that hasn’t changed. That isn’t your child’s fault, and it isn’t yours. Nobody prepared the house. That’s the work we do together: what the rules are now, how you respond when they’re tested, and how you hold steady when the old patterns show up. They will show up. What matters is that you know what to do when they do.
